North Macedonia volleyball after Bulgaria loss, eyes Ukraine

North Macedonia’s national volleyball team moved on quickly after a straight-sets loss to Bulgaria and turned its attention to the next match at the 2026 European Championship.
On September 9, 2026 the Macedonian side was beaten 3:0 by the home favourites, who are also among the tournament favourites as the reigning world vice-champions. Despite the result, coach Josko Milenkoski praised his squad for a respectable performance within their abilities.
Focus shifts to Ukraine
The team will face Ukraine in Round 2 on September 11, 2026; the match is scheduled to start at 15:00. The players and staff described the Bulgaria match as behind them and said the squad is fully concentrated on preparing for the Ukrainian challenge.
This morning, September 10, 2026, under the guidance of Josko Milenkoski the team held a training session in a positive atmosphere as they worked on tactical adjustments and recovery.
Coaching staff emphasised that the performance against a top-level opponent confirmed areas to build on, and that the squad aims to enter the Ukraine game mentally refreshed and ready to compete for points in the group.
