A group of minors and younger youths playing with firecrackers started a fire in Kapishtec park after a tree was ignited last night, residents reported.
Neighbors from the Kapishtec district alerted authorities and said the use of pyrotechnic devices in the area has been a recurring problem for some time.
Local complaints and safety concerns
The local Facebook page For a Decent Kapishtec has published that residents repeatedly reported the sound of firecrackers to the police.
Residents warned there was a real danger the blaze could spread toward nearby apartment blocks and electrical transformer stations.
They appealed to the competent institutions to intervene, investigate the incident and identify the person who started the fire.
Nearly two years ago, minors in the same park — where reconstruction work is under way — broke into an excavator, started it and drove it. The vandalism was posted by Centar municipality mayor Goran Gerasimovski on social media.
Authorities have previously been notified about other incidents in Kapishtec, including damage to private property and subsequent police reports.
