25-year-old Marko dies in crash near Cerovac; passenger critically injured

A 25-year-old man, identified as Marko S., died at the scene of a nighttime car crash while returning from a wedding, authorities report. The accident happened in the village of Cerovac near Šabac at about 1:00 AM.

According to early accounts, the vehicle left the roadway under unclear circumstances and flipped onto its roof. The impact and subsequent explosion left the car severely mangled, with debris scattered along the road.
Firefighters and emergency medical teams from Šabac responded immediately. Fire crews used cutting equipment to open the crushed vehicle and extricate the occupants.
Medical staff pronounced Marko S. dead at the scene. He was 25 years old and had become a father only one year ago. His companion was rushed in critical condition with serious injuries to the Emergency Centre in Belgrade, where doctors are fighting to save his life.
Images from social media show moments from the wedding the young men had attended shortly before the crash. An Instagram post by Mladen Mijatović (@mmijatovic_official) was circulated after the incident.
The police completed an on-site inspection, and a detailed investigation will determine the causes and circumstances that led to the tragedy.
