Matej Gashtarov extends contract with Red Star Belgrade until 2031

Matej Gashtarov has officially extended his contract with Red Star Belgrade until 2031, the club confirmed on 21 October 2026. The deal secures the young midfielder’s place at the former European champion for the next five years.

Gashtarov is a current Macedonian international and has become one of the club’s most talked-about prospects this season. The extension ties him to Red Star at least until 2031, although a transfer before then remains possible.

Market interest and pathway

European clubs have been monitoring Gashtarov’s development and the new contract is likely to increase his market value. While the agreement guarantees Red Star retain his rights, the club could still negotiate a transfer if an attractive offer arrives.

For the player, the extension provides stability and time to continue his progress at a club with recent continental pedigree. For Red Star, it secures a promising midfielder they can build around or sell later for a higher fee.

The announcement arrives amid growing attention on young internationals from North Macedonia, with Gashtarov now operating under a long-term contract at one of the region’s biggest clubs.
