77-year-old man from Mamutchevo killed on Gradsko–Veles highway; driver fled
Pedestrian S.M. (77) died at the scene; the body was sent to Forensic Medicine and police are searching for the driver and vehicle.
A 77-year-old man from the village of Mamutchevo was killed after being struck by a passenger vehicle on the Gradsko–Veles highway near the spot known as "Shtipska kluchka." The driver left the scene, authorities said.
The crash was reported on October 5, 2026 at about 05:30. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), a vehicle hit pedestrian S.M. (77); the driver did not stop and fled the scene.
The victim died at the scene; a doctor pronounced the death. By order of a public prosecutor the body was handed over to Forensic Medicine for an autopsy.
Police search for vehicle and driver
Police units are working to clarify the circumstances of the incident and to locate the driver and the vehicle involved. Investigators have opened a case and are collecting evidence at the site.
Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski confirmed the case during an appearance on Kanal 5, saying that a run-over person had been found on the highway and had died at the scene.
Authorities have not released details about the make or model of the vehicle. Police asked anyone with information to contact them as the investigation continues.
