Mickoski will ask for dismissal of Krushevo museum director after Makedonium rental

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said on September 30, 2026 that he will ask for the dismissal of the director of the Historical Museum in Krushevo and the institution’s board after the protected monument known as the Makedonium was rented for a music video shoot.

Government reaction and apology

Mickoski apologized to citizens for the lapse and indicated the Government will work to prevent a similar incident in future. He made the remarks while attending the opening of the renovated student dormitory "Stiv Naumov" in Skopje with Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska.

In his statement the prime minister said: "I followed all the reactions. Indeed what happened there is something that should not have happened. I will ask the minister of culture to dismiss the director of this institution, together with the Management Board, because institutions of this type should not be rented out and used for such purposes. I apologize to the citizens for the lapse that was made and occurred. We will try in the future that such a thing does not repeat. Even today I will ask that both the director and the members of the Management Board be dismissed."

According to reports, the Makedonium — which is protected cultural heritage of the state — was handed over for 500 euros to the production of Kosovo rapper Don Gjoni to film parts of the video for his song "Seksi mama."

Mickoski said he will request the minister to proceed with dismissals immediately and that the Government will take steps to ensure protected cultural sites are not used for private shoots going forward.
