Ministry of Digital Transformation orders block of 104 additional illegal online gambling sites — total 462

The Ministry of Digital Transformation has issued an order to block 104 additional websites that are being used to run illegal online gambling, bringing the total number of blocked addresses to 462.

The blocking order was sent to the Agency for Electronic Communications (AEC). The AEC is required to forward the instruction to all operators of electronic communications networks within five days of receipt.

Operator obligations and user notice

Once they receive the instruction, network operators must immediately restrict access to the listed sites. Users who try to access a blocked address will be shown an official notice explaining the reason for the block.

The Ministry said the primary aim of these measures is to protect citizens from potential abuses, cyber risks and the sharing of personal and financial data on unverified platforms. Special emphasis is placed on protecting minors from harmful influences and exposure to online gambling.

The Ministry also issued a public appeal asking citizens to be careful with their data online and urging parents and guardians to regularly monitor their children’s online activity and discuss digital risks with them.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation stated it will continue taking all measures within its authority to combat illegal online gambling and to build a safer internet space for everyone.
