Ministry of Education and Science opens call for Roma educational mediators — 50 for primary, 35 for secondary
Applications open until October 7; mediators will be paid 20,000 denars monthly for defined months in 2026 and 2027.
The Ministry of Education and Science has opened public calls for Roma educational mediators, seeking to hire 50 mediators for primary schools and 35 for secondary schools; applications are open until October 7.
Role, locations and contract terms
The mediators will support pupils from Roma families who are socially vulnerable or who have been out of the education system for long periods. Their responsibilities include increasing awareness of schooling opportunities and access, holding regular sensitisation meetings for communities and school staff about the needs of vulnerable groups, cooperating with school specialists and teachers to improve pupil outcomes, and carrying out measures to reduce school dropout.
Primary-school mediators will be assigned across municipalities including Suto Orizari, Karposh, Gjorce Petrov, Chair, Centar, Kisela Voda, Aerodrom, Gazi Baba, Butel, Tetovo, Gostivar, Kichevo, Debar, Bitola, Prilep, Kumanovo, Shtip, Kochani, Vinica, Delchevo, Berovo, Veles/Gradsko, Kavadarci, Kriva Palanka, Ohrid, Negotino, Ilinden and Radovish.
Thirty-five mediators will be temporarily engaged in secondary schools in Skopje and the municipalities of Tetovo, Gostivar, Kichevo, Debar, Bitola, Prilep, Kumanovo, Shtip, Kochani, Vinica, Delchevo, Berovo, Ohrid, Struga, Veles, Negotino and Kavadarci.
Candidates must be unemployed or employed with reduced working hours, hold citizenship of North Macedonia and belong to the Roma ethnic community. Selected mediators will receive a monthly fee of 20,000 denars for up to two months during 2026 and for eight months during 2027. The calls specify tasks, candidate criteria and application procedures.
