Timcho Mucunski meets Hungary’s special envoy for the Western Balkans; pledge to deepen ties

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski met today with Hungary’s newly appointed special envoy for the Western Balkans, Ambassador Andras Klein, in a discussion that both sides said underlined strong bilateral cooperation.

Partners agree to step up cooperation, stress EU outlook

According to the Ministry, Mucunski and Klein welcomed the steady development of relations between the two governments and noted that in 2025 those ties were elevated to the level of strategic cooperation. Both officials expressed their readiness to deepen partnership in areas of shared interest.

The conversation focused chiefly on the European Union enlargement process and current regional security challenges. The ministers stressed the need for a credible and dynamic enlargement path that would support stability, reforms and development across the Western Balkans, and they voiced an expectation that Hungary will continue to back the region’s European perspective.

They also exchanged views on measures to preserve and strengthen peace and stability in the Western Balkans, particularly in light of wider global and security pressures. The pair agreed on maintaining close coordination to address these challenges.

The ministry said the meeting confirms high-level cooperation and opens room for further practical steps aimed at deepening political and economic ties between the two countries.
