Ministry of Interior announces drone use and parking closure for national holiday

The Ministry of Interior (MVR) announced on 22 October 2026 that on 23 October, for the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) will be used to record the event from the air.

Security measures and parking restrictions

According to the announcement, the parking area at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje (MSU) will be secured between 10:00 and 23:30 on 23 October 2026 to enable the ceremonial programme. The ministry appealed to residents and visitors to remove their vehicles from the site during those hours.

“The activities will be carried out within the planned measures for marking the holiday, and at certain locations an increased presence and movement of unmanned aerial vehicles will be noticeable,” the ministry said. The statement stressed these are pre-planned actions and asked for public understanding so the measures can be implemented smoothly and safely.

The ministry framed the drone flights as part of preparations and security arrangements for official commemorations related to the state holiday. Citizens were reminded to observe the temporary restrictions and follow any additional instructions from police on site.

No further operational details or flight paths were published in the announcement. The ministry only underlined that the measures aim to ensure the ceremonial programme proceeds without disruption.
