Police file charges after Dukançik shooting; both suspects remain fugitives
Criminal complaint sent to the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Skopje four days after the killing of 26-year-old Amir Murati on Sept. 6.
Police have filed criminal charges against two people in connection with the deadly shooting in the Dukançik neighborhood of Skopje, authorities said four days after the attack. Both suspects are reportedly at large.
The shooting occurred on the night of September 6 at about 23:30 near the junction of Prohor Pchinski and Vojdan Chernodrinski streets, when two men on a motorcycle approached a group and opened fire, according to the criminal account of events. Several shots struck 26-year-old Amir Murati.
Investigative action and charges
Murati was badly wounded and taken to the Emergency Department; he died of his injuries during the night. Following police measures and investigative activity, officers submitted a criminal complaint for murder to the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Skopje.
Police say both suspects have fled and are the subject of an active search. One of the accused is a person who had previously served a prison sentence for multiple criminal offenses and at the time of the killing was on conditional release.
Investigators continue to gather evidence, interview witnesses and coordinate efforts to locate the suspects. The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office will decide on further procedural steps once it receives the police file.
Authorities have not disclosed identities of the suspects pending the ongoing search and prosecutorial review.
