Ministry of Internal Affairs steps up speed controls from 3 to 9 August as part of ROADPOL action
The Sector for Traffic Affairs will intensify controls from 3 to 9 August to find and sanction drivers who exceed speed limits as part of a ROADPOL operation.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that intensified speed checks will continue over the coming weekend as part of a coordinated European operation by the road-police network ROADPOL.
Traffic Sector runs targeted inspections
Authorities say the Sector for Traffic Affairs is carrying out intensive controls in the period from 3 to 9 August, focused on detecting and sanctioning drivers who operate motor vehicles at speeds above the legal limit.
The ministry emphasised that excessive speed remains one of the most frequent causes of serious traffic collisions with severe consequences, and that every instance of exceeding the limit increases the risk of an accident and reduces the chance of a timely reaction.
The Ministry appealed to drivers to lower their speed, adapt it to road conditions and operate vehicles responsibly.
“Complying with speed limits means greater safety for you, for your family and for every other road user. Our goal is one — that every person safely reaches their destination. Reduce speed. Save a life,” the Ministry said.
Officials also reminded that the action forms part of international efforts to raise road safety and reduce the number of traffic victims.
