194‑metre bridge under construction on Beljakovce–Kriva Palanka line; section 40% complete
Bridge No.7 is the longest of 29 on the 34 km Corridor 8 section; 71 of 352 concrete elements produced so far.
Construction works on the railway link between Beljakovce and Kriva Palanka — a 34‑kilometre section of Corridor 8 — are advancing, with teams concentrating on bridges along the route, authorities said.
Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski and the director of Public Enterprise Macedonian Railways – Infrastructure, Siniša Ivanovski, reported heightened construction activity on the stretch that will connect North Macedonia with Bulgaria.
Bridge No.7, the longest on the section, now under construction
Ivanovski confirmed that work is under way on Bridge No.7, a structure 194 metres long — the longest bridge on this section and one of three still not built out of a total of 29 bridges planned along the line.
At the same time, production is ongoing for the concrete elements required to repair 26 partially completed bridges dating from the 1990s. “A total of 352 concrete elements must be produced, and to date 71 have been produced, at a rate of 10 per week,” Ivanovski wrote in a post on his Facebook profile.
The overall progress of the Beljakovce–Kriva Palanka section currently stands at about 40 percent. Macedonian Railways – Infrastructure expects the project’s completion rate to reach 50 percent by the end of this year.
