Nadica Ademov: From a hard childhood in Skopje to a life of luxury in Belgrade
The 29-year-old singer recounts family ruptures, a broken engagement to an older musician and the memory of her grandfather.

Nadica Ademov, the 29-year-old folk singer who was born in Skopje, has built a high-profile career and a comfortable lifestyle, but her rise followed a childhood marked by poverty, family strain and painful personal losses.
Now married to millionaire Damir, with whom she has two children, Ademov lives in a 185-square-metre apartment in Belgrade valued at €830,000 and the family also owns an apartment in Budva worth more than €300,000.
Her path to this life was turbulent. Before meeting her current husband she went through a widely reported family crisis: her parents reportedly turned away from her when she became engaged to a much older musician who had previously been married twice, had three sons and carried a prison record.
Ademov later addressed that episode herself: "It is true what was written about those painful moments, but now I am on good terms with my parents. Everything is fine," she said after breaking off the engagement and repairing the relationship with her family.
Aside from romantic turmoil, Ademov has recently been public about the emotional weight of her early years. Born into a poor family, while her parents worked at a market to make ends meet, her grandfather took primary responsibility for her and her brothers. The family moved to Subotica in 2001.
Her grandfather, whom she described as more than a parent, died on her birthday in 2015. Marking the day he would have turned 86, she posted on Instagram: "Today we would have celebrated your 86th birthday. I miss you, my grandfather." The loss continues to shape how she remembers her origins despite the luxury she now enjoys.
Her younger brother, Bubi Ademov, has followed her into the music scene, appearing on the television singing competition Zvezde Granda.
