Staškov primary school stabbing: pupil kills teacher, wounds two others
One teacher died and two others were hospitalized after an eighth-grade pupil attacked people at a primary school in Staškov, Slovakia.
An eighth-grade pupil stabbed two teachers and one fellow student at a primary school in Staškov, Slovakia. One of the teachers, aged 61, died of her injuries, while the other two victims were taken to hospital.
Emergency services — including two ambulances and two rescue helicopters — were dispatched to the school after the attack was reported. Emergency Medical Service spokesperson Petra Klimešová confirmed that the injured pupil was airlifted in critical condition to a hospital in Martin.
The second injured person, a 44-year-old teacher, suffered a stab wound to the chest and, after receiving first aid on scene, was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Žilina.
Official reaction and school community
Another victim, a 61-year-old teacher, succumbed to her wounds at the scene. The chief Slovak prosecutor, Maroš Žilinka, commented on the attack: "The tragedy is a call for the whole society to take violence, hatred and growing aggression more seriously."
The pupil council expressed solidarity with students, teachers and families affected by the incident, stating that schools must remain safe places and urging a systematic approach to addressing security issues in educational institutions.
The police continue to investigate the circumstances of the attack and said they will release further details once the inquiry is complete.
