Storm in Slovenia leaves more than 3.500 residents without power
Fallen trees hit roads and vehicles; Elektro Ljubljana says restoration is progressing.
A severe storm struck parts of Slovenia, causing widespread tree falls and power disruption, local authorities reported.
The Slovenian Civil Protection Agency said many trees were brought down by the storm. There are also reports that fallen trees struck vehicles and blocked roads. So far there are no reports of injured people.
Power cuts and restoration work
More than 3.500 residents were left without electricity after the outbreak of bad weather. Data published on the Elektro Ljubljana website indicate that crews are working to restore supply and that the situation is slowly improving.
Emergency services and utility teams have been clearing roads and removing fallen trees to reopen traffic and reach affected neighbourhoods. Local officials urged people to avoid damaged areas and to report downed power lines to the relevant authorities.
Authorities continue to monitor the aftermath of the storm and said restoration work will continue until service is fully re-established.
