Multiple domestic‑violence complaints across North Macedonia; arrests and criminal complaints filed

Police records over the past days show a wave of reported domestic violence across North Macedonia, with several arrests and criminal complaints filed in different municipalities. Most reports concern attacks on spouses, but the police bulletin also lists assaults against other family members, including an adult son who allegedly attacked his mother.

Seven separate incidents recorded in two days

In Delchevo investigators lodged a criminal complaint against N.I. (47) from the Delchevo area after he reportedly assaulted his mother at home on July 16, 2026. Authorities say the charge sheet cites suspicion of the crimes "bodily injury", "endangering safety" and "failure to comply with a court order"; the attack additionally violated a temporary protective measure issued by the Basic Court in Delchevo.

A particularly disturbing case in Gostivar resulted in the arrest of I.T. (45) on August 16, 2026. Police detained him following a report that he physically assaulted his 35-year-old wife; officers measured a blood-alcohol level of 1.01‰. Later that evening the wife expanded her complaint, saying that for a prolonged period, while under the influence of alcohol, her husband sexually forced her into relations and subjected her and their children to ongoing psychological and physical abuse. Police searched I.T.'s home at 23:55 and seized items connected to the alleged crimes; he remains in custody pending formal charges.

Other cases recorded by the police include a report from Kriva Palanka: on August 15, 2026 a 61-year-old woman told police she had been physically attacked by her husband, E.A.; investigators are taking steps to clarify the incident. On the same day, in the village of Bogovinje, officers from the Kamenjane outpost arrested J.N. (45) after he allegedly attacked his 34-year-old sister‑in‑law in the yard of the family house; the victim received treatment at the Clinical Hospital in Tetovo for injuries documented by doctors.

In Valandovo a 42-year-old man was detained in the early hours of August 16, 2026 after a report that he had assaulted his 36-year-old wife at home on August 15, around 21:00. Prosecutors in Gevgelija have been notified and officers say they will submit appropriate charges after the case is documented. In the capital, Central Police Station officers detained A.N. (59) from Skopje following a complaint that around 16:30 on August 15 he physically attacked his 58-year-old wife and her 78-year-old mother; police said charges will follow once the investigation is complete.

The most recent arrest in Skopje took place in the Gazi Baba area on August 16, 2026: at 05:55 police detained Sh.S. (41) after a report that he had assaulted his 50-year-old wife at home at approximately 02:45. In all cases the police statement says the suspects were taken into custody and that, after documenting the incidents, appropriate legal action will be taken.
