The nightgown is no longer just for the bedroom — the summer look taking over streets
Slip-style nightgown dresses from Zara, Mango and WOMEN'SECRET are moving from bedroom to boulevard, priced between 1,190 and 3,500 MKD.

Give up the strict rules — the garment we used to reserve for sleep has emerged as one of the summer's liveliest fashion movements. What began as a bedroom staple is now a visible presence on city streets and at events.
High-street labels already offering the look include Zara (2290 MKD), Mango (2990 MKD) and WOMEN'SECRET (1190 MKD), with some variations reaching 3500 MKD at Mango. These price points show the silhouette is available across several market segments.
What defines the trend
The modern "nightgown" dress — often presented as a slip or cami-style frock — is recognised by flowing cuts, delicate lace trims, ribbon accents and soft details that invite playful styling. Designers refreshed the idea on spring 2026 runways, and the look has since spread into summer wardrobes.
Its biggest advantage is versatility. For daytime, pair a light nightgown dress with flat ballet shoes and a discreet shoulder bag for a relaxed urban vibe. Swap to high heels and statement jewellery for the evening and the same piece becomes a polished option for nights out.
Fashion experts note that the combination of unquestionable comfort and emphasised femininity is the driving force behind the trend. "The nightgown has taken on an entirely new role. It is no longer a sign that it's time to sleep, but a fashion emblem that can be walked in freely every day and everywhere," they say.
As the trend continues through summer, expect to see more variants — from minimalist silk slips to layered, lace-adorned options — appearing in shop windows and on the streets.
