Unstable weather from Wednesday: heavy rain, thunder and gusty wind
Weather turns locally unstable from Wednesday afternoon with heavy showers, thunder and gusty wind; conditions may persist through the week.
From Wednesday onward, parts of North Macedonia will see unstable weather with showers, thunderstorms and gusty wind, the national hydrometeorological service warns.
Overview of the forecast
Wednesday and Thursday morning are expected to be sunny and warm, with small to moderate local cloudiness. In the afternoons, some areas will become unstable, with locally heavy downpours, thunder and strengthened wind.
Because of the large amount of energy in the atmosphere, convective processes could locally develop into severe storms accompanied by intense heavy rain, strong wind and possible hail. Similar conditions are likely to recur in places through the end of the week.
In Skopje the forecast is for sunny and warm weather with small to moderate cloudiness. However, parts of the basin may experience localized instability in the afternoon with heavy showers, thunder and strengthened wind.
Residents in exposed areas should be prepared for sudden intensification of rainfall and gusts during afternoon and evening hours while conditions remain variable until the weekend.
