Centar Municipality removes terrace in front of 'Malaga' on Dame Gruev Street
Centar Municipality cleared a metal structure that occupied the pedestrian path by the Malaga pastry shop and said inspections will continue.
On 26 September 2026 at 15:46 Centar Municipality removed a metal structure that had formed a terrace in front of the Malaga pastry shop on Dame Gruev Street in Skopje, clearing the pedestrian walkway that had been partly occupied for an extended period.
Goran Gerasimovski, mayor of Centar, said the space has been restored for public use.
Municipal crews restored pedestrian access
Municipal officials reported that the intervention returned the sidewalk to pedestrians and reopened an unobstructed route for foot traffic. The removed installation was described by the municipality as an unlawfully placed metal construction that extended onto the pedestrian surface.
“We cleared the space and returned it to the pedestrians, to whom it belongs. Public areas must be free and accessible to everyone,” said Mayor Goran Gerasimovski.
The municipality added that inspections and actions to remove illegally installed structures and objects on public spaces will continue, signalling more enforcement against similar encroachments.
Local residents and passersby had for some time navigated around the terrace, which municipal inspectors said impeded normal pedestrian circulation on Dame Gruev Street.
