Eight wildfires still active, three contained — flames burning near Prilep landfill and old cemetery

Eight wildfires remain active across North Macedonia this evening and three have been brought under control, out of a total of 20 recorded until 6:00 p.m., the Center for Crisis Management said.

Active blazes were reported in Saraj, near the village of Kopanica; in Trnovo in the Gostivar area; and around the villages of Bitovo, Zagrad and Strajane in the Municipality of Makedonski Brod, where low forest, pastures, bracken and other low vegetation have burned.

Fires are also active above Nezhilovo in Chashka, at the Svatovi site where low vegetation and isolated trees are burning, and in Kopance in the Municipality of Jegunovce, where mixed forest has been affected.

Near Prilep, flames are burning at the illegal landfill above the barracks and at the old cemetery; additional blazes were registered near the Ohrid villages of Velmej and Brezani, as well as in the Prilep village of Crnilishte.

Fires contained and the wider situation

Fires declared under control include the landfill fire in Delchevo and the blaze near the village of Crkvenec, as well as the fire on the Morane–Vrtekica–Ramni Gaber stretch in the Municipality of Studeničani, which had a branch toward Paligrad and the villages of Vrazhale and Tisovica in the Municipality of Zelenikovo.

Separately, the fire that burned under Tetovo's Kale started from children's play; houses almost caught fire.
