World War I shells removed from burned area near Meglenci, Novaci
DZS pyrotechnician removed two artillery shells (75 mm and 155 mm) from territory hit by wildfire near Meglenci, Novaci.

Two unexploded artillery shells dating from World War I were safely removed from a burned area near the village of Meglenci in the Novaci municipality, the Directorate for Protection and Rescue (DZS) reported.
The ordnance — a 75 mm and a 155 mm artillery shell — were taken away by DZS pyrotechnician Gjorgji Stefanov after being located in terrain recently affected by wildfire. The shells did not detonate as a result of the blaze, the Directorate said.
Discovery and risks
Members of the Territorial Firefighting Unit in Bitola found the munitions while working in the area. The DZS warned that unexploded ordnance poses an additional danger to anyone in regions where such devices remain, especially where fires have swept through.
Pyrotechnician Stefanov conducted a controlled removal operation on site and transported the shells to a safe location for further handling and disposal, according to the Directorate's account.
The incident follows a wildfire in the vicinity that burned roughly two hectares of wheat near Novaci; local crews continue to monitor the area for lingering hazards.
