Panche Toshkovski: "Safe City" producing results, traffic victims fall to two digits

North Macedonia's Minister of Interior, Panche Toshkovski, said the national "Safe City" system is yielding measurable results as authorities register a decline in traffic victims this year.

"The 'Safe City' system is delivering results; the number of traffic accidents has decreased," Toshkovski said, citing statistical data that show fewer fatalities compared with earlier years when the toll reached three digits. He noted that this year the figure has been reduced to the two-digit range.

Monitoring and prevention highlighted

Toshkovski attributed the improvement to the functioning of the Safe City platform and the enforcement activity it enables across urban areas. He presented the change as part of a wider effort by institutions to tackle road safety.

The minister's remarks come as officials continue to review traffic trends and to point to technology-driven measures among the tools used to curb accidents and fatalities on the roads of Skopje and other municipalities.

Authorities said they will keep monitoring the data and adjust operational measures where needed, with the stated aim of driving the number of traffic victims even lower in the coming months.
