Sopishte–Sredno Vodno–Centar road built in 2016 still closed
A local resident urges authorities to explain why the four-kilometre section remains unused and suggests opening it to cars.
On September 10, 2026 at 15:54, local resident Rabi V. Sedrak posted on social media about the Sopishte–Sredno Vodno–Centar road, saying the route remains closed to normal traffic despite construction having started in 2013 and works being completed in 2016.
The section, about four kilometres long, could relieve traffic from Sopishte and Sonchev Grad toward Skopje's centre, Sedrak wrote, especially now that the road through Teferic has been closed because of damage.
Calls for explanation and a partial opening
Sedrak says most traffic is instead routed via Pripor and Kisela Voda, and that during the morning peak the journey to Centar can take more than an hour. He is asking the responsible authorities to explain what is preventing the road from being opened.
He also proposed that if the problem is heavy freight traffic, the section should at least be opened to passenger cars and light vehicles so it can immediately ease congestion.
The timeline Sedrak cites — construction start in 2013 and completion of works in 2016 — underlines that the route has been physically finished for years but has not been put into regular use, leaving commuters to endure longer journeys into the city.
