Ohrid paediatric ward returns to 24‑hour service after five years
Staff reinforcements and new medical equipment restore inpatient and round‑the‑clock care; children had been sent to Struga.

After five years of limited operation caused by a shortage of specialists, the paediatric department at the General Hospital in Ohrid has resumed 24-hour service and inpatient care.
The hospital says the change follows targeted staffing reinforcements and the arrival of new medical equipment that improve the ward’s capacity to treat and monitor young patients around the clock.
During the period when the department worked on a restricted schedule, children in need of hospital admission were referred to Struga.
Specialists in training will expand capacity
At present, five doctors from the department are completing specialist training. Their expected return to Ohrid is projected to strengthen the team and increase the ward’s capacity to accept and treat paediatric cases locally.
"This department has a good future because we have five doctors in specialization, and their return will further strengthen the Department," said Dr. Goran Markoski, director of the General Hospital in Ohrid.
