Five active fires — still burning near Gracani and Nikishtani
CCM: in the past 24 hours 42 fires were recorded, five are active, five brought under control and 32 extinguished.
The Center for Crisis Management (CCM) announced this morning that in the past 24 hours 42 fires were recorded across the country, of which five are active, five brought under control, and 32 extinguished.
The situation around Skopje and the region
Active fires are still burning near the villages of Gracani and Nikishtani in the Gjorche Petrov municipality. There is active burning of forest on the territory of Kosovo.
A fire has also been reported at the location called Ramno in the village of Brest, in the Chucher-Sandevo municipality, on Skopska Crna Gora.
In the Struga municipality there are fires near the villages of Burinec, Lokov and Selce; in Makedonski Brod near the village of Belica; and in Brvenica near the village of Miletino.
Under control are the fires near the villages of Knezhino and Dobrenoec, as well as near the village of Tajmishte in the Kichevo municipality, the fire near the village of Kopanica in Saraj, the fire near the city dump in Delchevo and the fire between the villages of Rudjince and Orah in Staro Nagorichane.
According to the CCM, 32 fires were extinguished at different locations across the country, among them in the municipalities of Petrovec, Gazi Baba, Chucher-Sandevo, Gjorche Petrov, Saraj, Tearce, Kratovo, Kumanovo, Lipkovo, Berovo, Shtip, Struga, Kichevo, Dolneni, Bitola, Novaci, Gevgelija, Novo Selo, Strumica, Krushevo, Ohrid and Gradsko.
In Skopje thick smoke was recorded; authorities say that the air pollution over the capital is coming from three new open-area fires in the vicinity.
