Five parliamentary committees meet to review strategies, laws and judicial reports

Five parliamentary committees will meet today in the Assembly to consider a packed agenda that includes draft laws, national strategies and a series of annual reports from judicial bodies.

The Committee on Defence and Security will hold its 49th session with a single item: the Draft National Strategy for Road Traffic Safety for the period 2026–2030.

Legislative and judicial items on multiple agendas

At its 190th meeting the Legislative‑Legal Committee will also review the Draft National Strategy for Road Traffic Safety 2026–2030. The committee’s agenda includes draft laws to ratify the Convention on the Bureau of the European Conference for Civil Aviation, a protocol with Lithuania to implement the agreement on readmission of persons staying without authorization, and defence cooperation agreements with Slovenia and Portugal.

The Legislative‑Legal Committee will take up, in first reading, the Draft Law on Reporting and Screening of Foreign Direct Investments, and will examine the National Strategy for Prevention of Corruption and Conflict of Interest for 2026–2030.

The Committee on Political System and Intercommunity Relations will convene its 81st session to hear several judicial-sector documents: the Judicial Budget Council’s report on implementation of the 2025 Judicial Budget, the Judicial Council’s 2025 annual report, the Council of Public Prosecutors’ 2025 annual report, and the annual report on the work of the public prosecutor’s offices for 2025.

Two sittings of the Committee on Elections and Appointments — its 60th and 53rd sessions — are also scheduled. Among other items, the committees will determine candidate lists and make decisions for the election of a member of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption, appoint a member to the State Council for Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency and Justice for Children, and name a member of the Commission for Protection of Competition.

Members will also vote on changes to the composition of parliamentary committees and on membership of parliamentary friendship groups with foreign parliaments. The agenda contains proposed dismissals and appointments of chairs and members of the boards that award the state decorations "Mother Teresa", "22 November" and "St. Clement of Ohrid".
