Petrushevski: Filipche blames VMRO-DPMNE for everything
Petrushevski says Filipche's attacks and alarmism distract from governing and called for a stronger opposition.
MP Brane Petrushevski accused SDSM leader Venko Filipche on Thursday of blaming VMRO-DPMNE “for everything”, saying the ruling party should focus on governing rather than respond to what he described as Filipche’s attacks.
Speaking at a press conference, Petrushevski said Filipche had made blaming VMRO-DPMNE a reflex and warned that constant criticism and alarmism were taking the party leader down the wrong path.
"Filipche blames VMRO-DPMNE for everything, even for events inside his own party. If hysterical behaviour is Filipche's only way of operating, if he has settled on nothing but criticism and attack against anything and everything, even against former colleagues, members and officeholders, then he is indeed on a bad path. VMRO-DPMNE, as the party that now leads the Government, can only continue caring for citizens, and we benevolently advise Filipche — to leave despair and attacks aside. North Macedonia needs a strong opposition, not SDSM as it is now, a party that blames VMRO-DPMNE for everything," Petrushevski said.
Accusations over a new platform and media ties
The remarks came after SDSM accused media and journalists close to Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski of supporting a platform formed by current and former SDSM officials, which the party calls "ZNAM 2.0". SDSM framed the platform as a media-backed effort and said citizens could see which outlets were promoting it.
Representatives of the platform — including Gordan Georgiev, Andrej Petrov, Slavjanka Petrovska, Igor Ivanovski, Nikola Kurkchiev and Emilijan Stankovic — held a briefing on Thursday and insisted they will not become a new political party or submit independent ballots for parliamentary elections.
They told reporters that public sentiment was leaning toward an alternative to the current government and that the platform’s purpose is to start talks to consolidate the opposition with the aim of defeating the authorities. The next round of talks was scheduled for today at 12:05.
