Pirc Musar: EU enlargement to Western Balkans is a strategic investment in Europe's peace and security

Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar said on Friday that EU enlargement toward the Western Balkans should be treated as a strategic investment in Europe's peace, stability and security.

Speaking after a meeting with the European Union diplomats accredited to Slovenia, Pirc Musar urged greater unity within the bloc and called on Brussels to adapt and strengthen its international role amid shifting geopolitical conditions.

Unity as a precondition for influence

In a post on the platform X, Pirc Musar wrote: "The EU cannot afford to be divided at a time when the world faces major geopolitical changes. Its strength lies in unity, respect for international law and the values that bind us together."

The president underlined that the EU must be capable of acting in unison if it wants to be more powerful and influential on the global stage.

The meeting was chaired by Ireland's ambassador to Slovenia, Caroline Felan, and brought together ambassadors who exchanged views on current European and international issues, with particular emphasis on the need for greater unity in a changing geopolitical environment.
