Government approves 470 million denars to resume Ohrid indoor pool after 11‑year stall
The Government approved funding of 470 million denars (7.6 million euros) to finish the indoor pool project that started in 2015.

After nearly 11 years of inactivity, construction of the indoor swimming pool in Ohrid will resume. The Government of North Macedonia has approved steps to continue the project and allocated 470 million denars (7.6 million euros) for its full completion.
Work on the pool began in 2015 but stalled for years amid a series of technical, financial and administrative problems that left the site unfinished.
Ministry review found technical changes needed
Since taking responsibility for the project, the Ministry of Sport carried out an analysis of the site and concluded that amendments to the basic project are necessary—especially for the mechanical plant, the hot water supply system and the facility's electricity consumption.
Mayor Kiril Pecakov said that during the recent period authorities and local teams have worked to resolve the problems that had blocked progress on the project.
The government decision and the allocated funds are intended to enable contractors and the Ministry to finish the construction and address the technical modifications identified by the ministry’s assessment.
