Memorial tournament for Zoran Petkovski set for Bitola
The inaugural Zoran Petkovski memorial will be held on 16–17 September in Bitola; Pelister, MZT Skopje, TFT Skopje and Kumanovo will take part.
The newly formed basketball club Zoran Petkovski – Petkoto will stage the first memorial tournament dedicated to Bitola legend Zoran Petkovski on 16 and 17 September at the Boro Churlevski Sports Hall in Bitola.
Participants and format
The two-day event will bring together several of the clubs that marked Petkovski's career. His original club, KK Pelister, is listed among the participants; the field will also include MZT Skopje, TFT Skopje and Kumanovo.
Zoran Petkovski spent the greater part of his basketball career at Pelister. Born in 1978, he took his first steps as a player in the green-and-white jersey and was a youth international for Macedonia.
During his playing years Petkovski also turned out for Kumanovo, Vardar, MZT Skopje, Sokoli and Radovish.
After retiring as a player he devoted himself to coaching and later returned to Pelister, where from the bench he helped the Bitola club secure promotion to the top tier.
Commenting on the memorial, the organizing club said: "As the club in which he left indelible marks, it will be an honour for us to take part in the tournament organised in honour of our basketball legend."
