National e-nauka portal publishes database of researchers in North Macedonia

A new public portal, e-nauka.mon.gov.mk, now makes data on researchers carrying out scientific work in North Macedonia available in a single national electronic database.

Profiles, indicators and search tools

Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska presented the portal at a launch event and said the site displays individual researchers, research organisations and a range of statistics and performance indicators.

The platform is linked to the global research indexes Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar, which allows e-nauka to show publication indicators such as citation counts and the h‑index alongside researchers' profiles.

So far 229 researchers have registered on the system. Each profile lists formal education, employment, academic title, the institution or faculty where the researcher works, the scientific field or research identification, and indicators and outputs reported in Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar.

The portal is also intended to simplify links between researchers and industry. "Through advanced searches, businesses can now identify which scientist or researcher works in the field that interests them, and that encourages new partnerships, turns knowledge into economic value and accelerates innovation," Minister Janevska explained.

e-nauka is available to international universities, global research consortia and multinational R&D centres, with the aim of creating opportunities for joint grant applications, high-impact co-authorships and strengthening the position of local scientists on the global stage.
