Police identify participants in brutal beating in Gostivar

The police identified the participants in the brutal street beating in Gostivar after a video appeared showing a boy falling after being kicked, and then being further attacked with a wooden stick.

They are two minors from Gostivar and a 20-year-old from Skopje. The incident, according to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, was reported on Saturday and occurred on the night between Friday and Saturday at around 2:30 a.m. on "Borche Jovanoski" Street in Gostivar.

The suspected perpetrators were identified following measures and activities undertaken by police officers from the Gostivar Police Department (OVR Gostivar), under the direction of a public prosecutor.

What the footage shows

The footage shows a boy falling after being kicked in the head, and then, although he does not move, the group continues to beat him with a wooden stick which is later broken over his back. The incident was reported by a 22-year-old from Gostivar, who stated that he and his friend were attacked by three unknown male individuals who used hard and wooden objects.

"At the police station, two minors from Gostivar were called in for an official interview, and, by order of a public prosecutor, their travel documents were seized. The third person is V.D. (20) from Skopje, for whom a telegram was sent to SVR Skopje for further action. After full documentation of the case, the following day, through expedited proceedings, the persons will be brought, with an appropriate complaint, before a competent judge for preliminary proceedings," the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) said this evening.

The police announced that upon completion of the documentation a complaint will follow and further measures will be taken regarding appearance before a judge for preliminary proceedings.
