Fuel prices in North Macedonia: petrol rises, diesel falls from 15 September
New maximum retail prices apply from 00:01 on 15 September; EUROSUPER petrols rise, EURODIESEL falls and preferential 10% VAT for diesel is applied.
The Regulatory Commission for Energy set new maximum retail fuel prices that take effect at 00:01 on 15 September 2026, changing prices for petrol, diesel and heating fuels across the country.
Key changes and timing
From 00:01 on 15 September, EUROSUPER BS-95 will be sold at a maximum price of 100.50 denars per litre and EUROSUPER BS-98 at 102.50 denars per litre; both petrol grades increase by 3.50 denars per litre.
Diesel moves in the opposite direction: the price of EURODIESEL is reduced by two denars, from 101 to 99 denars per litre. The Government of North Macedonia applied a preferential VAT rate of 10 percent to diesel in its decision of 13 September, and the reduced excise on petrol and diesel remains in force.
Other petroleum products also change: extra light heating oil for households rises by 4.50 denars to 109.50 denars per litre, while the price of mazut increases to 48.243 denars per kilogram.
The Regulatory Commission’s calculation shows that retail prices of oil derivatives increase on average by 2.86 percent compared with the previous decision issued on 7 September. The commission cites a rise in reference fuel prices on world markets as the reason for the adjustments.
The new maximum prices will be applied from 00:01 on 15 September 2026; consumers should expect higher petrol prices at filling stations while diesel becomes slightly cheaper under the revised caps.
