Injured roe deer hit on Kichevo–Demir Hisar road taken to clinic by animal rescuers
Volunteers found the wounded animal and are transporting it to a veterinary clinic for hospitalisation and further updates.
An injured roe deer that was reported this afternoon on the Kichevo–Demir Hisar road after being struck by a car has been taken into the care of animal protection activists and is being driven to a veterinary clinic for treatment.
Rescuers intervened after the animal was left at the roadside
Photos shared in an animal-protection social media group show the wounded animal placed inside the trunk of a vehicle as volunteers prepared to move it off the road and into a clinic.
Initial accounts said the deer was severely hurt after being hit by a car whose driver continued on and left the scene. Local activists organised a response and transported the animal to receive veterinary attention.
One post from the group said: "The roe deer that was hit on the road to Kichevo has been taken, it is currently being transported to a clinic where it will be hospitalized and from where we will publish an update." The message indicated the rescuers would share further information after the clinic assesses the animal.
Volunteers urged caution for drivers on the stretch between Kichevo and Demir Hisar and asked anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward. The clinic is expected to provide an update on the deer's condition after admission.
