Snow returns to Golija: large flakes fall on mountain peaks

Fresh snow fell on Golija mountain on September 25, 2026, producing winter-like scenes just days into the autumn season. Social media clips show white flakes and brief sleet sweeping the higher ridges of the massif in Ivanjica municipality, Serbia.

Three days after the season’s first snowfall surprised residents of the higher slopes, new footage circulated online again capturing the precipitation. An Instagram post from the account @vilamikagolija carried the caption "Snow again on Golija" and shows flakes descending through coniferous stands.

Locals say the first snow earlier this week fell heavily in parts of the Golija area but did not remain on the ground for long because air and soil temperatures stayed relatively high.
