Morning call at 05:35 — two hours of work on a waste site
The alarm was received at 05:35, and firefighters worked for around two hours to bring the fire under control. According to the commander of the Kumanovo Territorial Firefighting Unit, Boris Stankovski, the flames started at a location with waste and illegal dumps.
Responders also tackled a separate fire at a sandwich bar on Boris Kidrič Street in the city. That intervention involved one firefighting vehicle and five firefighters.
Local crews said the Sredorek blaze has been completely extinguished and no further danger was reported at the scene after the operation concluded.
Regional firefighting services remain engaged elsewhere: there are active fires near Makedonski Brod and in parts of Kumanovo, while the municipal landfill in Delchevo is reported to be under control.
