Caregivers in Hrom and Berovo reported for violence against children
Police say a mother in Skopje reported her five‑year‑old was struck; in Berovo investigators filed criminal charges against two people including a caregiver.

Caregivers at kindergartens in Skopje's Hrom neighbourhood and in Berovo have been reported in separate incidents alleging violence against children, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
"Yesterday at 11:30, at the Regional Police Directorate — Skopje, a 36-year-old woman reported that on 14.08.2026, after she picked up her five-year-old daughter from a kindergarten in the Hrom neighbourhood, the child told her she had been hit by a caregiver. The mother reported that her daughter complained that the caregiver had squeezed her leg," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
Details from the Berovo reports
Police said the cases in Berovo involve two separate reports submitted to the local criminal investigations office, and that criminal complaints have been lodged against two individuals linked to the municipal kindergarten.
"The External Office for Criminal Investigations — Berovo filed a criminal complaint against S.D. (33) from Berovo on grounds of suspicion for the criminal offense 'violence against a child' and against A.D. (33) from Berovo on grounds of suspicion for the criminal offense 'endangering safety'. On 06.07.2026, the first accused, employed at the Municipal Public Institution for Children – the kindergarten in Berovo, stepped on the finger of a minor child's hand in the kindergarten.
