17-year-old detained in Skopje for alleged sexual assault; family violence and farmers’ blockade follow

A 17-year-old has been detained in Skopje on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl, police said, while separate incidents of family violence and a major farmers’ blockade on the Bitola–Prilep road marked a turbulent day across the country.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the 40-year-old mother of the victim filed a complaint on 29 September. Officers from the Skopje Police Department responded and detained the teenager after investigators established that the alleged assault was followed by persistent harassment.

Authorities say the suspect used social media to stalk and threaten the girl and repeatedly demanded explicit photos and videos. The case is being documented and will be forwarded to the public prosecutor with an appropriate criminal charge.

Other family-violence cases were recorded the same day. At 16:40 police arrested 27-year-old E.Z. from a village in the Čaška municipality after he allegedly attacked his 60-year-old father with hard objects; the public prosecutor and the Veles Center for Social Work are involved in the case.

Night assault in Radovish and a growing farmers’ protest

In Radovish police detained 47-year-old S.D. at 01:30 after he reportedly physically assaulted his 36-year-old wife and their minor daughter. The suspect is being held at a police station pending further action.

Separately, farmers and livestock breeders from across the country staged a blockade on the Bitola–Prilep road near the village of Topolchani. They demanded overdue milk subsidies, which have been delayed for ten months, higher purchase prices and better conditions in agriculture and viticulture. "With these prices we are at the brink of survival. If within a week our demands for payment and lower costs are not met, radical measures will follow," the united farmers warned.
