Tetovo man, 62, detained on suspicion of raping a minor
The suspect surrendered after a video appeared online; authorities say he is held under prosecutor's instructions on suspicion of rape of a child under 15.
A 62-year-old man identified by the initials R.N. has been taken into custody by police in Tetovo on suspicion of raping a minor, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
The ministry reported that the suspect, R.N., from a village in the Tetovo area, turned himself in at the Tetovo police station after a video related to the case was posted on social media.
Prosecutor's instructions, detention and next steps
"Following instructions from the Public Prosecutor's Office in Tetovo, the person has been deprived of liberty on reasonable suspicion of committing a criminal offence – rape of a child who has not reached 15 years, according to Article 188 of the Criminal Code," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
According to the ministry, the suspect is being held at the police station pending further procedures as authorities work to fully clarify and document the case.
Further investigative steps, including evidence collection and coordination with the prosecutor's office, are expected as the case progresses through the criminal process.
