MIA detains driver from the Service for General and Common Affairs over marked cash

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced that a driver assigned to the Service for General and Common Affairs (SGCA), an office within the Government, was taken into custody after being found accepting cash that had been previously marked.

According to the MIA, the case began after a citizen filed a complaint. The Department for Combating Organized and Serious Crime — the Anti‑Corruption Unit of the MIA — investigated the report in coordination with a public prosecutor.

Detention and next steps

The employee, identified only by initials D.C., was reportedly caught receiving the marked money and was deprived of liberty. The ministry said the arrest followed the operational steps taken by the anti‑corruption unit.

The MIA added that, once investigators complete documentation of the events, an appropriate criminal complaint will be submitted to the competent public prosecutor's office.

The ministry's statement came amid public reports suggesting the detained person is the driver of the government's general secretary, Igor Janushev; the MIA did not provide additional personal details in its communication.
