Ban on movement in forests extended until 30 September

The authorities have extended the full ban on movement in forests and forest land because of increased risk of wildfires, keeping the restriction in force until 30 September.

The measure covers areas administered by the Public Enterprise "National Forests". Access will be allowed only to persons or groups holding a written permit issued by the enterprises branches — specifically the branch in Skopje for the territories it manages.

Who is exempt and who will enforce the ban

The ban does not apply to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, the Forest Police, the Center for Crisis Management, the Directorate for Protection and Rescue State Inspectorate for Forestry and Hunting, the Public Enterprise "National Forests", or to entities carrying out forestry operations, forest works and forest protection, nor to individuals who possess a written permit to move in the forests.

Responsibility for implementing and supervising the prohibition falls to employees of the Public Enterprise "National Forests" who perform protection duties, the State Inspectorate for Forestry and Hunting, the Forest Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The enterprise stressed that the restriction does not cover park-forests and national parks (for example, Vodno). Citizens are advised to check the conditions for movement in those areas with the legal entities that manage them.

Officials said the extension aims to reduce the likelihood of fires during the high-risk period and to ensure rapid response by authorised services if incidents occur.
