Digital tool launched to report online harassment of women in North Macedonia's media
Women's Media Network Ednakva and the Independent Trade Union of Journalists and Media Workers (SSNM) presented a digital form that lets female media professionals report work-related online abuse.
A new digital tool to report online harassment of women working in the media was presented on September 26, 2026 by the Women's Media Network "Ednakva" and the Independent Trade Union of Journalists and Media Workers (SSNM).
The platform is aimed at any woman employed in a media outlet — a journalist, editor, camera operator, photojournalist or other media worker — when the harassment is connected to her professional work. Organizers say reports can be submitted with just a few clicks.
How the initiative is positioned
According to the organisers, the tool is designed to make it easier to document and record incidents of online abuse so that individual cases are visible and can be tracked. It is presented as a practical step to lower the barrier for victims to come forward and to create a reliable record of patterns of abuse.
The Women's Media Network Ednakva warned that insults, threats and belittling in the online space are on the rise, increasing risks for women who perform reporting and other journalistic tasks.
The SSNM said that by encouraging reporting, the new mechanism should also increase pressure on institutions to end impunity for perpetrators of online harassment.
Organisers urged media outlets and colleagues to share information about the tool so that more women are aware of the possibility to report work-related online abuse.
