City of Skopje launches "EcoSkopje" platform for reporting waste and polluters
Mayor Orce Gjorgievski says reports will pass through the city IT department and typically be forwarded to Communal Hygiene; the app requires live‑captured location photos.

The City of Skopje has presented a new reporting platform called "EcoSkopje" that residents can use to notify authorities about overflowing containers, illegal dumps and other pollution problems.
City IT staff to forward reports, system requires live location photos
The platform was developed by a team of young people and will be operated by the City of Skopje and its public enterprises. Mayor Orce Gjorgievski said the system differs from previous solutions because citizen reports will first reach the city's IT department, which will maintain the platform and forward cases to the competent services — most frequently to Communal Hygiene.
According to the project's young developer, Andrej Bozhinovski, the application is built to prevent manipulation. "The EcoSkopje platform is made so it cannot be manipulated, meaning anyone who wants to report a problem can support it with a photo, but the location will be captured by the app in real time, so it will not be possible to submit pictures of overflowing containers and dumps taken a long time ago," he said.
City officials say the tool aims to speed up municipal response by delivering verified reports directly to the services responsible for street cleaning and waste removal. The initiative also seeks to reduce the number of informal dumpsites by making it easier for citizens to document and report violations.
EcoSkopje will be available to municipal crews and public utility companies, with the City IT department responsible for keeping the platform updated and routing incoming reports to the appropriate operational teams.
