Average net salary in August 2026: 48,733 denars, up 7.6% year‑on‑year

The average monthly net salary in North Macedonia in August 2026 stood at 48,733 denars, marking a 7.6% increase compared with the same month a year earlier, the State Statistical Office reported.
Which sectors drove the annual rise
On an annual basis, the rise in the average net wage was driven mainly by higher pay in several sectors: Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (+11.9%), Administrative and support service activities (+10.7%), and Manufacturing (+9%).
Compared with July 2026, month-on-month increases in August were observed in Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (+5.4%), Arts, entertainment and recreation (+5.0%), and Administrative and support service activities (+4.2%).
The average gross salary in August 2026 amounted to 73,336 denars.
The statistical release gives a sectoral breakdown showing which industries recorded the strongest wage growth, while the overall monthly and yearly figures provide an immediate snapshot of recent wage dynamics in the country.
