A court-ordered search in Gostivar uncovered an automatic rifle, two magazines and 110 rounds; suspect detained pending further action.
Police detained a 69-year-old man identified by the initials U. R. after a court-ordered search of his home and outbuildings in Gostivar uncovered a firearm and a large quantity of ammunition.
During the search, authorities found and confiscated an automatic rifle, a magazine holding six rounds (7.65 mm), a second magazine with 17 rounds (7.65 mm), and several boxes containing a total of 110 rounds of mixed calibres.
Investigation and next steps
The search was carried out under a court order and took place yesterday. The suspect was taken to a police station where he remains in custody while investigators complete documentation of the case.
After the investigation file is finalised, prosecutors will be presented with the case for possible criminal charges. Officials said the procedure follows standard practice when weapons and ammunition are discovered during a judicially authorised search.
No further details about the ownership of the weapon, its origin, or any possible links to other crimes were released immediately.
