Radiologic technologists central to modern diagnosis and therapy
Participants at the 12th Congress urged stronger multidisciplinary cooperation and more investment in technologist training.
About 200 radiologic technologists gathered at the 12th Congress of the Association of Radiologic Technologists of Macedonia to underline the growing role of technologists in contemporary diagnosis and treatment.
Multidisciplinary teamwork at the centre of the message
“This year's edition of the Congress carries special weight and significance because it is held with strong and active cooperation with the Macedonian Association of Radiologists (MAR), the Macedonian Association of Radiation Oncologists (MARO) and the medical specialists in nuclear medicine. This synergy between radiologic technologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists and nuclear medicine specialists sends a powerful message: success in modern medicine is based on a multidisciplinary approach and teamwork,” said Vedrit Ibushoski, president of the Association of Radiologic Technologists.
Organizers and speakers at the event stressed that investing in education and professional development for radiologic technologists is an investment in higher-quality care across North Macedonia's health system.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sonja Nikolova, Director of the University Institute for Radiology – Skopje and President of the Macedonian Association of Radiologists (MAR), emphasized the practical side of that cooperation.
“The future of radiology is not built by professions that work side by side, but by professionals who work together. Precisely for that reason MAR—the Macedonian Association of Radiologists—this year stood behind the Congress of the Association of Radiologic Technologists of Macedonia. The radiologist and the radiologic technologist are part of the same team and with the development of new technologies, radiotherapy and minimally invasive image-guided treatments, that connection becomes even more important,” she explained.
Delegates said the event aimed to strengthen professional ties and to accelerate the adoption of new imaging and treatment techniques that depend on close collaboration among specialists.
