Rocket strike in Odesa injures at least 16, including five-month-old baby
Morning rocket strike in Odesa left 16 wounded, six hospitalized and caused heavy damage to a residential building and a gas pipeline.
At least 16 people were injured in a morning rocket strike on Odesa, including a five-month-old baby, Oleksiy Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said.
Six of the wounded have been taken to hospital, the authorities said, and the infant is among those admitted. Emergency crews are treating the injured and searching the damage at the scene.
Damage to residential building and infrastructure
The upper floors of a multi-storey residential building were completely destroyed by the strike, while the blast wave also damaged neighbouring properties and a low-pressure gas pipeline. Local services are working on securing the site and repairing the damage.
Officials have not reported additional casualties so far. The situation remains under assessment as response teams clear debris and check nearby structures for secondary damage.
The Odesa region is also home to a sizable Bulgarian community that, according to the last official census, numbers more than 150,000 people.
