Barcelona midfielder Rodri said his team has a clear ambition to win the UEFA Champions League but warned that the club should not be labeled the tournament favourite ahead of the new campaign.
"The Champions League is a realistic target for Barcelona, but we are not the favourites for the tournament," Rodri said, calling for prudence and urging that no extra pressure be placed on the squad.
Context and competition
In recent seasons Barcelona have reasserted themselves as serious contenders on the European stage, yet the field in the Champions League remains exceptionally competitive. Top clubs across the continent arrive with similar aspirations, meaning any pre-season favourite will still face a difficult path to the final.
Rodri, however, expressed confidence in the quality of the Catalan squad and believes the trophy is within reach if the team progresses carefully through each round.
"The objective is clear, but we must go step by step," the Spain international added, stressing a measured approach over headline-grabbing expectations.
