Guided glide bombs kill at least 15 in Zaporizhzhia

At least 15 people, including three children, were killed when Russian forces struck the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia with guided glide bombs, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The weapons hit residential buildings, Zelensky added, and another 16 people were wounded. Authorities say there are believed to be people trapped under the rubble.

Damage and casualties

Emergency teams have been working at the strike sites amid reports of collapsed apartment blocks. Local officials described chaotic rescue operations as neighbours and first responders searched for survivors.

Zelensky also said the strikes were not limited to Zaporizhzhia. "During the night 13 other regions were also attacked. I will respond to these Russian attacks," he said.

The attack again underscored the danger faced by civilians in contested areas of Ukraine and is likely to further draw international attention to Moscow's campaign.
